Governors at St William’s Primary School work quietly and conscientiously behind the scenes. We are best described as ‘critical friends’ of the school.
Our responsibilities require us to support and challenge the school whilst at the same time remain loyal and supportive of the Headteacher and her staff.
Governing Board - Full Information

I am a qualified primary school teacher and currently work for the Local Authority as an education advisor. I fully understand the importance of education in the primary schools years and as a governor at St William’s am committed to both challenging and supporting the school to ensure best outcomes for all children. I thoroughly enjoy being a governor and feel privileged to be part of the school's journey to continuing success. In my spare time I have a keen interest in all things wildlife and working on my allotment.

I became a co-opted Governor in September 2015 and am the governor responsible for Early Years Foundation Stage and the Nursery. I have been supporting Norfolk schools and academies as a human resource consultant since April 2008 and have over 20 years private sector HR experience in professional services, retail and hospitality. Whilst I have a wide range of business experience my current role is to support schools regarding employee relations issues and I’m the lead consultant with regard to supporting governors with Head Teacher recruitment campaigns and assessment centres. My aim, as a member of the governing body, is to provide professional support and challenge to help the school reach its aspirations for its pupils.

Nicola has been a school governor at Brundall Primary School since 2009 and has held the post of Chair of the Governing Body since September 2011. She is also a governor at University Technical College Norfolk. Nicola has been involved in supporting Norfolk school improvement more widely by sitting on the IEB of another Norfolk Primary School until October 2015. She is a senior manager in an international marine services company with responsibility for HR as well as working closely with the Board on corporate strategic matters. Alongside this, she is a Trustee of a local charity, The Mason Trust, which works with 12-25 year olds to help raise their aspirations and support them to achieve their ambitions. The Trust also helps forge closer links between education and industry to enable young people to make informed choices about their future by understanding the opportunities available to them. Nicola’s involvement with St William’s is in the capacity of Governance Challenge Partner, whereby she provides independent assessment of the Governing Body as part of their self evaluation to ensure governance is effective.

Clerk to the Governors. I retired from my role as HR Consultant in Educator Solutions in October 2015 and have been clerk to the governing board since then. My role as clerk includes updating governor information for the website and keeping some of the school policies up-to-date. I keep fit by walking, gardening and doing Pilates and relax by reading and visiting nature reserves.
I am a qualified social worker, and currently work for Norfolk County Council as an Independent Reviewing Manager. I became a co-opted governor in September 2017 and am the governor responsible for Safeguarding. I strongly believe that every child needs to be encouraged to have high aspirations, and the right to be loved, listened to, and nurtured to reach their full potential.

Staff Governor: I joined the behaviour support team at St William’s in Easter 2018, previously I worked at Engage Educational Services as a behaviour specialist. During my time at Engage I worked in a number of Norfolk primary schools supporting children, staff and the whole school community in developing strategies to make school more successful for those who find it challenging. Prior to this role I spent nearly ten years working at Brundall Primary where I had various responsibilities and role which included PE co-ordinator and subject leader. At Brundall I was also a Governor for a short time. Outside of work I am married with two grown up children. I am a keen artist selling my work both home and abroad. I enjoy watching many different sports and taking part in a few. When time permits I also enjoy going to the theatre and love musicals. I am very proud to be part of St William’s.
I became a parent governor at the beginning of 2019. I am keen to bring a parents' point of view to the governing board. I have been a fully qualified member of the Professional Golfers Association for 25 years, currently coaching at Blofield. I enjoy watching my children participate in many sports as well Norwich City, where I’ve been a season ticket holder for over 20 years.
I joined the St Williams Primary School Governing Board as a co-opted Governor in October 2020. My previous experience includes lecturing in higher education institutions both in the UK and the USA and thirteen years of experience in the police, in multiple roles including leading a team dealing with Anti Social Behaviour. I now work in risk management for a large multi-national firm. I hold a Professional Doctorate in Criminal Justice Studies, where I focused on young peoples perceptions and motivations for joining street gangs. I look forward to working with the other Governors and School Management Team and am passionate about ensuring that every child gets an opportunity to succeed.
